Coats for Kids

In 1986, Yale Cleaners approached the News on 6 and Jim Giles about lending their name and support to a very important project.  The News on 6 agreed and the Coats for Kids project was born.  With their help, and the Tulsa community’s generosity, Coats for Kids has grown to be one of the largest coat drives in the nation.  Over the years several partners have helped distribute coats, including the Salvation Army, Sertoma Club and Immanuel Baptist Church.  In 1991 Catholic Charities joined the team and have been in charge of coat distribution since that time.

Over the past 24 years thanks to Tulsans' generous support, Yale Cleaners has cleaned and delivered over 250,000 coats for our neighbors in need.  This year, News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer is taking up the cause in honor of Jim's memory.

If you would like to donate, please drop off a new or gently used coat to any of our 13 locations in Tulsa, Owasso, Broken Arrow, and Sapulpa, or our corporate office.  Small children's coats and plus size adult coats are always in great demand.  The project runs from November 1 through December 31, but Yale gladly accepts coat donations year round.

If you need a coat please visit or call Catholic Charities at their new facility located at:
